Queen Studio
Our Queen Studio rooms are cosy 25m2 studio with rooms upstairs and downstairs.
We have two of these units available. One is situated upstairs with a small balcony and has a shower above a shub.
The other is downstairs with a door opening to our outside lawns and has a wet floor shower area. Both units have a small kitchenette with a small cooking hob, fridge, jug and microwave.
Bedding in these units is one Queen sized bed and is therefore suitable for a couple or a single traveller. These are the most compact of all our room types and if you are needing more space or wanting to stay for more than one or two nights, it may be more comfortable to upgrade to one of our larger rooms.
Two-Bedroom Apartment
Our Two-bedroom apartments are a spacious 100m2, perfect for groups or families.
These are very spacious stand alone ground floor apartments offering two large bedrooms. The first bedroom has a King sized bed and single bed that has a sliding door opening to the garden area. The second bedroom has a Queen sized bed and one single. (Sleeps a maximum of 6 persons)
There is a separate lounge/kitchen that opens onto the garden area with an outdoor table outside. It includes a large bathroom with a bath and separate wet floor shower area. (Suitable for wheelchair access). The kitchen has a cooking hob, fridge, jug, toaster, microwave, rice cooker and utensils.
These units have adjacent carports for your private car parking.

One Bedroom Apartment
Our One-bedroom units are a 45m2 apartment with rooms upstairs and downstairs.
Our one-bedroom units are upstairs apartments with balconies overlooking the gardens and have mountain views.
We have two of these units available. One has a Queen bed in the lounge and two singles in the bedroom - great for families. The other has a Queen bed in the lounge and another Queen bed in the bedroom, which is perfect for two single persons travelling together.
NOTE: Please specify when booking if you have preference as to which room you would like.
Both units are self-contained and have a Queen bed in the lounge area along with two lounge chairs and a dining table. The bedroom is adjacent to the kitchen area (with either two singles or Queen sized bed). There is a small kitchenette with limited cooking, includes fridge, jug, toaster, microwave, electric frypan and rice cooker. Portable hotplates are available on request. Private bathroom with shower.
Superior King & Single Studio
Our King Studio rooms are a very spacious 45m2 studio with rooms upstairs and downstairs.
These units are very spacious studio rooms with a King sized bed and a Single bed suitable for up to three persons. The rooms either have some lounge chairs or a three seater couch in the lounge area.
The upstairs units have their own balconies overlooking our expansive gardens. All units have small kitchenette with limited cooking – fridge, jug, toaster, microwave, electric frypan and rice cooker. Private bathrooms with shower only. The ground floor rooms open through sliding doors out to our lawn and garden area with a small outdoor dining setting directly outside for your use.
One Bedroom Family Apartment
Our One Bedroom Family apartments are a spacious 50m2 with rooms upstairs and downstairs.
Two of these units available – One is downstairs with a Queen sized bed in the lounge area and three singles in a separate bedroom (sleeps 5). There is a dining table in the lounge area along with some lounge chairs and this room opens onto our large garden area. The bathroom has a wet floor shower area with toilet. A separate small kitchenette has a cooking hob, jug, toaster, microwave, fridge and electric frypan and is located off the lounge area.
The upstairs unit has a private balcony overlooking the gardens and with mountain views. It has a Queen sized bed in the lounge area and the separate bedroom has a queen bed and a single bed (sleeps 5). There is a dining table in the lounge area along with some lounge chairs and this room opens onto our large garden area. There is just one bathroom with shower over a shub and toilet. A separate small kitchenette has a cooking hob, jug, toaster, microwave, fridge and electric frypan and is located off the lounge area.
About Us
Te Anau is a great base to travel to both Milford & Doubtful Sounds from, allowing yourself plenty of time for these day trips, without being in any rush. There are also many fantastic day-walks within our local National Park areas, along with bike tracks where you can simply enjoy Lake Te Anau itself and relax for a few days.
Our property is superbly located, being just a five minute stroll to the lake's edge or an equally short walk across the park opposite, to the town centre where there is easy access to shops, restaurants and supermarkets. We are fortunate to enjoy a large expanse of lawn and garden area where we get to view the mountain ranges and play host to native birds. A great place to relax at the end of the day!

Te Anau Glowworm Caves
Embark on a guided journey into the enchanting Te Anau Glowworm Caves, where rushing underground streams and luminous glowworms create a magical experience unlike any other.
A tour of the Glow Worm Caves is a must-do in Te Anau. It’s definitely a memorable experience for the whole family and in my opinion, seeing glow worms is one of the best things to do in New Zealand.
The Te Anau glow worm tour takes just over 2.5 hours total and includes a boat cruise across Lake Te Anau. This guided cave tour allows you to get up close with hundreds of glow worms. It combines both walking through the narrow cave passages to spot these creatures as well as a cruise through the caves in the dark on a small boat.
Drive the Scenic Road to Milford Sound
No visit to Te Anau can be considered complete without a road trip to Milford Sound. In fact, this is the most popular thing to do in Te Anau. This route is considered one of the most scenic drives in New Zealand and is often called by its Maori name – Piopiotahi Highway. Without stopping the 118-kilometer long journey (one way) takes around 1.5 hours. But, I recommend allowing at least 4 hours on the drive to Milford as there is just so much to see along this route.
If you can’t drive or don’t feel comfortable doing so then you can take a coach tour from Te Anau to Milford Sound. These tours depart at various times throughout the morning and include stops at a few of the key points of interest along the road.

Te Anau's only Gastropub, serving delicious meals with locally inspired ingredients along with local beers and wines.
Te Anau Bird Sanctuary / Punanga Manu o Te Anau
Take a peek at some of Fiordland’s special birds that are difficult to see in the wild. A great family friendly place to visit.
Right next to Lake Te Anau and just a 15-minute walk from Te Anau town is the Te Anau Bird Sanctuary. Here you can see some of New Zealand’s rarest and most famous species of birds. It’s an open-air sanctuary and should take you about an hour to walk around. Some of the bird species you will spot here include takahe (pictured above), kaka, kereru, tui, and morepork. As well as silvereyes, grey warblers, tomtits, bellbirds and fantails which are often seen feeding in the bush.
Fiordland Cinema's Ata Whenua
Fiordland Cinema's Ata Whenua is a must see for visitors to Te Anau. This 32 minute film showcases Fiordland and is shown at regular times daily. The Black Dog bar is located next door and has snacks and drinks available.
La Toscana - Italian Restaurant
La Toscana offers a taste of Tuscany in Te Anau. The pizzas, pastas and cheesecakes are a popular choice among locals and available as dine-in, takeaway or home delivery.
